5 best presentations form Devoxx UK 2018
Last week I attended Devoxx conference. It was amazing experience and I’ve seen quite a lot great talks. And I’ve got a pile of swag as well 🙂 As they just published videos from the conference I want to share with you my 5 favourite talks.
Conway’s Law and Microservices. A perfect match, or not? with Andy Hedges & Adrian Spender
I think it’s my favourite one. It touched a lot on organisational view on system design and architecture. Also I like the style adopted in dev at Tesco
Presentation 2.0: Five ways to engage your audience! with Koffi Alain Sessi
Non technical talk but very important. Presenation skills are important not only when speaking at the conference or meetup but IMO also when you speak to your colleagues in the meeting room.
Dealing with change in event sourced applications, with Michiel Rook
I’d say it’s mandatory talk for you if you put interest in CQRS and Event Sourcing. Michiel is a consultant and works with those concepts for a long time and his presentations are always great source of knowledge.
Springing into Kotlin: How to Make the Magic even more Magical, with Mark Heckler
As a huge fan of Kotlin it was nice to see again how simple the coding is when issuing this language.
Old Is the New New, with Kevlin Henney
The closing keynote. Great and funny talk explaining how all the new and shiny things are really new. Like from 60’s. Great lesson of the history of development and great fun to watch.
Ask the Architect with Mark Reinhold
Number 6 on the list but it was amazing how Trisha Gee could handle the conversation in the same time when she was hanging her child. Good insight on future of Java as well 😉
And here you have the link to the playlist with all the videos from the conference
